MasterWork Friends, Monday morning during my devotional time God touched my heart with a verse. I shared that with my Sunday School/Bible study group that morning. Earlier this morning during a prayer time, God prompted me to share the email with you. During this time of great uncertainty with the Coronavirus and shelter in place orders and shuttered business and financial volatility, God still reigns. Here are the earlier thoughts with the hopes they will encourage you as they did me.
My Bible reading this morning has me in the Book of Ecclesiastes, not a book loaded with encouragement–you know, lots of vanity vanity, all is meaningless, that kind of stuff. But this verse stuck out to me
7:14 “When times are good, be happy; but when times are bad, consider: God has made the one as well as the other.”
That God has made these current days as well as the days you and I might identify as better days means that despite the coronavirus, social distancing, isolation, and general uncertainty …
– Psalm 118:24 is still true: “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
– Romans 8:28,31,38-39 are still true: “We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.
What then are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us?
For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
– Hebrews 3:13 is still true: “But encourage each other daily, while it is still called today, so that none of you is hardened by sin’s deception.”
So be encouraged today, friends. Satan’s deception would like to discourage us by the circumstances of our world. But God is still on His throne. His promises and Word are still true. And our hope is not in the uncertain circumstances of this world but in the certainty of the next and the One who has secured it for us.
